The recruitment process here at Loop is quite thorough but its because we want to make sure we recruit the correct type of person who fits with Loops values and can make this an even better place to work.

So, how do I apply?

First of all, you will be required to complete an online application form - this is situated in the opportunities at Loop section. If you fancy the look of a job, click on the job title, see if its for you and if so, click on apply now to kick start your career with us.

How do I know if Im suitable for the role?

Read the job description thoroughly.  If you have anymore unanswered questions then give our Recruitment Team a call.  basically, if you enjoy working with customers and enjoy going that extra mile, then you are half way there!

Do I need Contact Centre experience?

Relax! Here at Loop we have a unique way of offering customer relationship management.  If you have experience from a customer service or sales environment, brilliant! However, if your experience is face to face or from another customer focussed role, youll have plenty of opportunity to show off your personality and your full potential at our Recruitment Event.  We just want you to be yourself!

What if I havent worked before?

We require at least 6 months customer service experience - it doesnt have to be in a contact centre.  We feel this is essential as you will be dealing with our valued customers on a daily basis.  Youll need to give details of all your job history, even temporary jobs and remember to mention any volunteer work you carry out.

But I cant use a computer

We do require PC skills, however, these only do need to be basic as full training on our generic systems will be given.

How much detail do you require in the answers to the questions?

Were looking for evidence of going that extra mile. Dont just describe what the situation was - explain how you worked in a team or prioritised work.

When will I hear?

Your online application will come straight through to us and applications are shortlisted on a daily basis.  We will contact you whether you are successful or not.

Whats the next stage after applying?

If your application is short listed you will be contacted by telephone by one of our Recruitment Team to arrange for you to have a 15 minute phone interview with them.  This is nothing to worry about - its just a chat really about your customer service experience and for us to assess your telephone manner as this is what you will be doing everyday if successful.  You will be told the outcome at the end of the interview.   If successful you will proceed to the next stage.

The next stage is short numerical and verbal tests where we will arrange for you to come into our office at Thornbury to take these tests, usually with a group of no more than 15 people.  Taking the actual test takes an hour in total and you will be told the decision afterwards.  If successful, we will arrange for you to come back to Loop at a different time to take part in a recruitment event.

I hate exams though!

The tests we give you are not exams but they are timed.  because you will be calculating customers payments and adding memos to accounts, basic numeracy and literacy is vital.  These tests are at GCSE level.  We also send out practice tests to you in the post beforehand so you can try some example questions and familiarise yourself with the format!

If because of a disabilty you require tests in a different format, contact the HR Team on 01274 262227 to arrange this facility.

What if I fail?

If unsuccessful, then its the end of the process for you, however, you would be able to apply again in 6 months time and we offer all candidates feedback.

What will I be doing at the recruitment event?

The whole purpose of the recruitment event is to make sure that we feel comfortable working with each other and this is very much a two-way process.  Were not trying to catch you out on anything- we want you to feel at ease.

You will firstly have a short tour of our friendly, fun workplace and will get a chance to listen to some calls so you can get a real idea of what we do and to see if you like it here.  Youll then take part in a few exercises designed to assess how you would raect in certain situations- youll have a one-to-one interview with two of our Team Managers and will also take part in a short telephone exercise with two different assessors.  There will also be the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

A telephone exercise sounds scary - what will it involve?

Again, this is nothing to worry about. As the role involves talking to our valued customers on the phone, we need to make sure that you are ablt to do this well.  Therefore, we will be looking for a good telephone manner and professionalism. You will be given a scenario with plenty of time beforehand to prepare.  You will then put on a  headset and away youll go.

Who will I meet?

We want you to get a feel for what its really like to work here, so youll be introduced to a variety of people from around the business, along with the other candidates.  Some of these people will be assessing your potential during the event. Some could even be future colleagues.

What should I wear?

Our dress code at Loop is smart casual. You dont need to wear a suit unless thats what makes you feel confortable - but no jeans or trainers please.

How long will it take?

Typically the event will last no more than two hours, depending on the role you have applied for.

How will I know if I am successful?

Our aim is to let you know whether you have been successful as soon as possible, usually within a few working days.  At the recruitment event, we should be able to tell when that will be. If you do join Loop, youll receive feedback when you first meet your manager - and if for any reason you are not successful, we still offer you feedback.

How big will the group be?

We bring applicants in to the process in pairs and you may not even get to see the other person.

What induction training will I receive?

If you pass the recruitment event, we will book you onto a four-week full time (paid) Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm training course.  Youll need to commit to the four weeks full-time training even if your contracted hours are only part-time and unfortunately you will not be allowed any holidays during this period.  Here you will be led step by step through the call centre process by one of our experienced trainers and youll move through the process with the other candidates ( usually a group of about 11 people) to ensure your receive all the training you need to perform well in your role.  The first three weeks of your time will be spent learning all you need to know about our policies and procedures, how to deal with the variety of queries that come through and teleskills such as rapport and empathy. After three weeks you will move into our Learning Support Team where you will take calls in a  controlled, supportive environment.  If there are any problems at all, there will be a coach on hand to help you out until you feel confident enough to do it alone. This isnt the end though, throughout your career with us, you will benefit from the continuous support and development.
