Zoe Barron: customer relationship manager – business centre

Zoe-Barron-portraitHours worked each week:           37.5

Working pattern:                             Mon – Fri (flexi time)

You’ll hear a lot of people at Loop singing the praises of working flexibly and how it fits with their family. I don’t have children, so for me, working flexi-time gives me the chance to come in a bit later if I’ve had a night out or to have a long lunch with the girls. But the biggest advantage is leaving early, as my other half works nights and otherwise we’d be like ships that pass in the night.

I’ve been at Loop since 2002, giving up my studies to work here after I enjoyed my part-time job so much.  My role in the key accounts team in the business centre is dedicated to looking after our biggest commercial customers. I am trained to talk to them about any aspect of their water – from bills to meter problems, consumption to discharges to sewer.

Mainly the work is taking incoming calls but we also do some calling out to customers, for example if the system flags up that their water use is unusually high. Doing this can help our customers identify leaks or problems in their business which need looking at – and using less water the next month means it costs them less money.

I love the wide range of people here at Loop and call many of them friends. Fruity Friday – where we get free fruit – and the head and shoulder massages at our desks are some of my favourite perks. Can you think of anywhere else you’d get that? I can’t.

If you’re thinking of applying for a job at Loop I’d say do it. It’s a fantastic place to work, you get to work on a wide variety of things and see them through from start to finish. You can really get your teeth into an issue and have the satisfaction of seeing it wrapped up.
