We look beyond todays challenges to create tomorrows solutions

Kelda initiatives

Kelda has a number of community initiatives which, as well as being a great way for us to make a positive and lasting difference to the local Yorkshire community, provide our colleagues with a number of different opportunities to get involved whilst helping them gain valuable new skills.

Big Wish for Ethiopia aims to deliver safe water, sanitation and hygiene education to those less fortunate, whilst educating customers and influencing stakeholders on the challenges faced by millions. Colleagues have the chance to visit schools and youth clubs and tell younger customers about our Big Wish for Ethiopia and how we can all help to provide clean water and sanitation for everyone, everywhere.

Soak It Up focuses on providing community action & engagement to show our young customers, and their local communities, how they can use rain gardens, ponds and other Sustainable Drainage Solutions (SuDS) to make the most of rain water and help the environment. We’ve partnered with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust who’ll be helping us with the creation of Sustainable Drainage solutions around a number of school buildings and community facilities.

We continue to support WaterAid’s fundraising activities and help ensure that vital work continues to provide clean water and sanitation to those who desperately need it. One of the activities colleagues can take part in is Yorkshire Water’s Water Cycle Challenge which has three separate routes taking in the beautiful scenery of the county, with all money raised in support of WaterAid.
